Verses & Hymns for the Very Young
Audio CD by Speakable Gifts

At what age are children too young to learn the Word of God and hide it in their hearts? What about the words of hymns and songs? Do any of us dare to say? It is with this in view that we made this recording some years ago, and as the title suggests, it's for the very young. We encourage its use from birth through the preschool years, but it's appropriate for kids of all ages. There are nineteen verse/song pairs, and the vocalists are the two Randall children who were 5 and 17 years old at the time, along with the four Noor children (our close friends) who were ages 4 through 9. Beverly (Randall) Smith was the pianist. The recording is a little under sixty minutes in length.

MORE INFO/ SUGGESTIONS There are nineteen (19) pairings of verse portions and hymns/songs. Of the 19 hymns or songs, 14 were originally written specifically for children and the remaining 5 are often sung to or by children, so the words are very appropriate for little ones. This recording is characterized by one keyword: simplicity. The primary purpose is to aid in the memorization of biblical truths by very young children. Therefore, all of the singing is performed without accompaniment so that the words may be more clearly heard. However, there is some piano music sprinkled throughout. Suggested Uses: Play it while the child is resting or napping. Play it while he is riding in the car. Play it during feeding or mealtimes. You can think up other appropriate times. If you use it often, especially if you focus on certain verses and songs at other times, we're fairly certain your young child will be making many of these verses and hymns his own. |
