It’s a Wonderful Life

Monday, December 22nd, 2008

Neesie1.jpgSweet sixteen. Yes, it’s the anniversary of the birth of a very special girl. Our daughter Neesie was born that day and came into our lives four days later by the avenue of adoption. Isn’t God good? Of course, we knew He was already, but with Neesie in our family it was even more evidence of His goodness.

She had a party, inviting many special friends from the past and present, with a theme “It’s a Wonderful Life.” We had fun reminiscing with a trivia quiz from the movie with Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed (which our family has watched over and over, especially, this time of year), making sundaes and writing a funny story of the birthday girl’s life. Each of the guests got to write a “chapter” so you know there were many good laughs and the finished product was a “movie script” that Neesie will keep as a reminder of the party and of her friends. Then, it all ended with popcorn and pizza and a viewing of the movie for all who wanted to stay.

Decorations were easy–a Christmas theme, of course, with much to choose from at the dollar store.

Thought some of you might want to try this as a party idea some day.

The Girl Inside

red rose.JPGMy older daughter has recently started a website and blog, both by the above title. She has started all this as a ministry to teen girls. Needless to say, my fourteen year old daughter is delighted, as are some of her friends. If you have any girls in your home who are twelve and up, this is an invitation for you to go and check out what’s going on over there. You might also like to look into the “bookette” which she wrote when she was nineteen (she’s about to turn 27 next week), which we’ve been carrying for years and which has been appreciated by many.

Thanks for stopping by!

Selena and Jamal

Our granddaughter is sharing her toy!!! What do you think: Is she happy about it or not? She recently got to spend some quality time with a good friend Jamal who is three months older. Looks like he likes her favorite toy as much as she does. Fun days are ahead.

Excuse Me

Wednesday, October 18th, 2006

We are a family organization, a very small one. So for my second test post I just wanted to say that my family is probably my favorite topic. So, please excuse me if from time to time I talk about my dear husband, dear daughters (and dear son-in-law), but especially my dear and precious new granddaughter. I’ll try to restrain myself from talking about them too much, reserving that for my other blog. But sometimes I’m sure that I won’t resist!
