The SG Notebook

We’re sorry to say, but it appears that the Lord is leading us to abandon our desire to serve the Christian Bride. It has become clearly evident to us that this is not the direction He has for us. For more information, see our Christian Bride page, which we will be leaving up for a while.

We have many things which we are contemplating these days and if you’ve been around for the past two to three months, you’ve probably noticed it’s been a bit quiet at SG. We are waiting on the Lord about several directions to go with products and services, so as we’ve said before, check back in when you have time to see what, if anything, is new.

Hope you and your family are being richly blessed these days. Another thing we are waiting on is a third little daughter/granddaughter who is expected to arrive in September.

DaySpring has a neat new product just in time for Thanksgiving–an inspirational wooden caddy to sort your utensils at gatherings. This is something I just might get for myself! A tip: I think this would make a nice bridal shower gift. Lots of uses for this one!

The Old Farmers Almanac has a wealth of helps and ideas on a huge number of topics. A link to this page came up on my Facebook homepage a short bit ago and I thought it worth sharing here.

About hope chests. This is an old-fashioned concept that I hope never goes out of fashion. I know there are still young ladies who have them, so that’s encouraging. By the way, we carry an excellent book that talks about preparing for marriage in a way that goes beyond hope chests. I would strongly encourage you to check this book out for future reference and purchase.

This has become such a common thing in our day, that it’s doubtful that a bride wouldn’t know about it, but just in case. This video is very simple and basic and pretty much tells you all you would need to know. I’m sure the actual setup is different for each store, but for those who are not very computer literate, we’d suggest recruiting the help of someone who is.

Trying to think of a gift for the flower girls can be a challenge for a bride. Have you ever considered paper dolls and/or other wedding related books? Dover Publications have several options that you can group together in a nice little package. It would certainly help the little ladies remember your big day. Next to the bride, they tend to be the stars of the show. You can be sure they’ll want to remember that! Why not hop over to Dover and see what they have? Go to this page and scroll down.

I always do it. Bite off much more than is chewable. Doing a bridal tip each and every week is a bit much. So our “weekly” tip will be a bit less often than that. But hopefully it will be often enough that brides will come from time to time to see what new helps are being offered. Subscribe to our feed to be sure you don’t miss any! More are coming quite soon, hopefully.

If you want to save money on your wedding flowers, you really don’t want to get them when they’re not in season. Getting them in season is the way to go and this article will help you with that. I’m a proponent of silk flowers, but that’s another post. Hope the above site will be a help to you in deciding not only on what flowers to choose, but on what season would be best for your big day.

Isn’t that a nice name for a table setting? Actually, it’s a nice name for anything. But then, I’m partial to taupe and beige things, whatever they may be.
